We provide services in the following areas:
Pre-Language Skills
Pre-language skills form the foundation of a child’s communication development. These include (but not limited to) skills like being able to pay attention to something at the same time with someone else (joint attention), being able to imitate and taking turns during an interaction.
Receptive & Expressive Language
Receptive language skills (understanding of language) and expressive language skills (expressing one’s thoughts with language) vary depending on the child’s age. We assess the child’s language skills and provide intervention tailored to his/her age and needs. This will look different for each child. For example, a child may need some support to develop verbal requesting skills instead of throwing a tantrum when he/she needs something. Another child may need support with understanding of linguistic concepts as he/she is not able to follow the teacher’s instructions in class.
Speech
Speech or articulation difficulties may impact on a child’s confidence and ability to socialise and be understood by family and friends. We address concerns with articulation, such as sound distortions, speech errors, lisps, speech errors due to tongue-tie etc.
Feeding
Sometimes children don’t feed well and that results in poor nutrition and growth. Families feel the heat because feeding occurs many times in a day and mealtimes may become a stressful struggle. We address concerns with feeding, such as difficulties with chewing, tube weaning, transitioning of textures, increasing variety of foods taken etc.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
Sometimes the child is limited by what they can say with their bodies, and they need extra support to express the thoughts in their head. AAC can help with that. We provide AAC assessment and implementation.
Orofacial Myofunctional
Therapy
Re-educating the facial and oral muscles to help someone eat, breathe and sleep better.
Caregiver Training
We believe in working closely with caregivers! Progress is so much faster when we work as a team. We provide training on specific techniques and strategies to support your child’s communication / feeding development.
We also provide consultancy services and provide parents with expert advice on what to do to support your little one!
School Visits &Educator Training
We would love for all schools to be an inclusive and supportive place for children. We have worked with teachers and provided educator training in schools. We also provide in-school speech therapy sessions.
