Meet Cindy Chang

Cindy is mother of two, and an experienced Speech and Language Therapist. She started Therapy Together in 2019 to provide a personalised therapy service for families and children. Having worked in different contexts, including a special education school, mainstream and inclusive preschools, hospitals and community outreach programmes, Cindy envisioned a therapy service that would serve clients directly in a place that they are most comfortable in - their home. 

 

Cindy has worked with a diverse population of paediatric clients, such as clients with:

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (Non-verbal / Verbal)

• Intellectual Disability

• Down’s Syndrome 

• Cerebral Palsy

• Global Developmental Delay

• Genetic conditions (E.g. Trisomy 9, DiGeorge etc)

• Tongue Tie / Ankyloglossia 

• Speech & Language Delay / Disorders

• Articulation difficulties

• Feeding difficulties

 

Cindy enjoys learning new strategies and techniques that will support her clients. She is currently trained in the following techniques and utilises these intervention strategies: 

• DIR Floortime 

• Oral Placement Therapy by Talktools

• Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding

• Elastic Therapeutic Taping in Head, Neck and Orofacial Disorders

• M.O.R.E: Integrating the Mouth with Sensory and Postural Functions

• Orofacial Myology / Myofunctional Therapy by Australian Orofacial Myology Collaboration

• Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) e.g. Proloquo2Go, Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display PODD

Cindy has published a research article in the journal of “Speech, Language and Hearing” regarding the “Story retelling abilities of bilingual children with non- syndromic cleft lip and/or palate”. Her research poster was presented at the Hong Kong Speech and Hearing Symposium in 2012 as well as the 9th Asia Pacific Conference on Speech, Language and Hearing in Taiwan.
